Kryptonite is back with the 454 Big Block Version 2! Version 1 was one of my favorite RDA’s to come out last year. Flavor and performance were both outstanding. Kryptonite have now released the second version of this RDA which looks to be a nice improvement over last years model.
What’s new in Version 2?
The two biggest changes in version 2 are the size of the RDA itself and the now non-removable drip tip. Its interesting that Kryptonite made these changes – I personally think the smaller size is a big improvement. The fixed drip-tip doesn’t bother me as it looks nice on the atomizer and functions well (its is a wide bore), but some people might take issue with the fact they can’t use their favorite tip on the 454 Big Block V2.
So why was the size reduced? I think this was a good move for 2 reasons. First of all the smaller height means a smaller chamber. This results in slightly better performance because the heat is contained to a tighter space. Secondly, I like that this RDA is now more stealth. The current trend in vaping products is that size does matter. I honestly get tired of carrying around a 2 battery mod with a giant atomizer on the top. Its fine if I’m at home, but when I’m out I usually like to have something small that doesn’t take up an entire pocket. Pair this atomizer with a small mech mod like the Praxis Mod or the 4nine and you’ve got an incredibly compact yet powerful device!
454 Big Block V2 Impressions
I think Kryptonite have something very special with this atomizer. As I mentioned, version 1 was one of the best atomizers to come out last year. They didn’t go crazy with improvements – they just changed the size and drip-tip and this atty promises to be one of the top contenders for this year.
If you’ve not used the 454 big block – its a very different design from traditional atomizers. There is 1 positive post with 4 holes. You attach the positive lead here and the negative lead goes under the retaining ring that screws in to the base. This gives you excellent contact and connectivity and the performance is outstanding. This design also allows you to do all kinds of builds on the device. You can easily do single, double or quad builds and you can probably get creative with all kinds of other things.
The price is very nice as well. At just under $70, you get a beautiful, high-end atomizer for a very reasonable price.
Remember, these tend to go out of stock so if you want one – get it!
