The Derringer RDA from Praxis Mods is one of those classic rebuildables that comes along every once in a while and changes what we expect in an RDA. The key to the Derringer is its size. Its tiny. Its a full 22mm standard diameter that will fit flush on any mod, but its really short. There are several benefits to having a design like this – first of all its ultra stealth. If you pair this with any of the new ergonomic 18650 mods like the 4nine or the Praxis, you’ll have a seriously awesome combination that combines power with extreme stealth size. It really is fantastic.
I use mostly regulated mods these days, but there are times where I feel like going back to a mech mod setup. As you can see in the images, I’ve got a copper 4nine and this thing is just a little bit taller than the battery itself. It maintains direct contact with the battery and hits hard for a setup this small. I absolutely love it.
The other advantage to having a short RDA like the Derringer is the chamber size. Its greatly reduced so it gets hotter and produces really nice vapor. And everything is so compact, you’re getting the flavor right off the coils. I really like this.
The Derringer comes in 3 sections – the deck, sleeve and top cap. You have 3 holes on each side and you have excellent air flow control to dial in the exact setting that you like. You can also set this up in single coil configuration for those that prefer that.
The deck is the standard 3 post configuration. The holes aren’t the biggest that I’ve seen, but I set mine up with 22 gauge Kanthal wire without any problem.
There is a standard 510 drip tip connection so you can use whatever you like. A short, wide bore is perfect for this device. You could actually not use a drip tip all together and just vape with the cap. It does get hot, but they do make Delrin replacement caps if you want to do just that.
This is one of my must have RDA’s. Essential.
