The IGO W7 RDA is made by Youde. Youde are known for building affordable RDA’s. They are designed in the USA and built in China. This is the same company that’s given us the IGO W, W2, W3 etc. They also designed the AGA, AGR and other assorted tanks.

Though easy to find and relatively in expensive, Youde have made some great stuff. The IGO W is simple and easy to use – its a great utility RDA. The IGO W6 is an amazingly affordable, 5-post RDA that’s designed for quad coils. Easily one of my favorites.

The Youde IGO W7 RDA is right up there with the best of them. Its a 2 post design but is much different than the standard IGO W. It features a radical top cap design and the posts are set up for vertical builds.

IGO W7 Performance and First Impressions

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the IGO W7 RDA. Once I got it built with a vertical setup I was actually blown away by the quality of performance this RDA delivers. Its smooth as butter and the flavor is pretty darn good as well. I set mine up with 24 gauge kanthal at about .3 ohms. The adjustable airflow is really nice so you don’t have to modify this or buy different top caps like we had to do with the IGO W. Airflow is really good on this – I like to do lung hits and I like an open feel. The IGO W7 didn’t disappoint. If you like a tight draw, just adjust the airflow control ring to dial in exactly what you like. This RDA is really impressive.

Design and Features

One thing I really like on the IGO W7 is that it breaks convention in terms of looks. Youde generally design very conservatively. The IGO W7 offers a very different look. Its a 22mm diameter device so it fits flush with a standard tube mod. The top cap comes in 3 sections and its really different. There is an inner sleeve with the air holes, an airflow control ring and then a screw in top cap. The top cap fits inside the airflow control ring and “blossoms” out at the side angles giving this a lotus type look. Its different and I actually like it. The screw in top cap is a little awkward, but it seems set up that way to keep the assembly in place.

The airflow control setup is a long slot on each side of the IGO W7 inner sleeve and repeated on the airflow control ring. Just turn the ring to loosen or tighten the airflow. Simple.

The deck features a deep well which is nice for holding more juice and keeping your wick looking tidy. The two negative screws are connected to a “base bar” so they share contact. This is actually quite nice to see on an RDA at this price point. This keeps the connection solid and helps with voltage drop off.

What’s Missing?

Hats off to Youde for once again making a great affordable RDA with the IGO W7. I only have 2 minor gripes. For one – I wish these cheaper RDA’s had an adjustable center pin. There are certain mods that require more length and you don’t get this option at this price level. I’m sure it costs more to do so we probably won’t see it at this price point, but it sure would be nice. My second suggestion would be to offer more finish options. Polished stainless is all Youde make and I would really like to see an option for brushed stainless steel. Polished steel is a fingerprint magnet. I just think brushed would look so much cooler and also less maintenance as I’m constantly polishing this.

Do I need the IGO W7?

Of course you do! Its only $35.95 so I think at this price it makes it certainly worth checking out. I’d normally say at this price these make excellent mods to learn on or keep as spares, but the IGO W7 RDA offers something very unique. The vertical setup and the lotus look make this something special. And it won’t break the bank like most boutique RDA’s. This one’s just as good at a third of the price of its expensive competitors.
