SX Mini M Class by Yihi

SXMini Box Mod

The SX Mini by Yihi is probably my favorite regulated mod to date. Yes it is expensive, but I promise its worth every penny. First off its extremely solid. This thing is a tank – its not going to scuff or dent easily. Its got a nice weight to it and it feels great in the hand. Second – the SX Mini uses the SX350J chip which is one of the best you can find to date. It is stunningly good. It goes up to 60 watts which is higher than the DNA40. The DNA40 does everything perfectly but if you need power, the SX350J is the one to get. It does both wattage control and temperature control. The biggest difference over the DNA40 is that in temperature control mode, it uses pulse width modulation. I have no problem with this at all, but I mention it because some people don’t prefer that.

Design-wise the SX Mini is similar to the ZNA that came out last year. But unlike the ZNA, it won’t fall over. The deco look has a way more modern feel to the SX. The buttons are well located, solid and very responsive. You have a floating 510 connection, beautiful display, standard buttons, a USB port for charging and firmware upgrades and a screw cap for the battery. The screw cap could have been designed a little better, but its not a deal breaker.

Performance wise – this is one of the best box mods I’ve used to date. I love it. Everything is solid.

One thing you have to understand about the electronics and the SX350J chip is that it will do a LOT. You have control over every nuance that this unit will do – way more than the DNA40. Having said that – it gets confusing. Not a huge deal for me because I get it set like I want and forget it, but there is a TON of features that you can control. You just might be reaching for the manual when you want to change something. Its also got a gravity sensor for “tilt” adjustment which I don’t use personally.

The chip features intelligent temperature limiting which can be set from 200° to 580° Fahrenheit and also features dry burn warning. It supports coil builds all the way down to 0.15 ohms.

There are 4 output modes to choose from and a bypass for using the device as a mechanical mod. The output modes allow you to fine tune the output by setting the device to Soft, Standard, Powerful and Powerful + modes.

There are also 5 memory recall settings in both wattage and temperature control modes. Yep that’s 10 memory settings total. If you’re switching out tanks and RDA’s this can be very useful.

Another major plus is that the chip regulates battery life extremely well. This is a single battery device and its nice to have all the battery life you can get. You need to use high drain batteries with this – 30 amp or higher IMR only.

This is seriously one of the most impressive devices I’ve seen. I just ordered a second – I like it that much. I absolutely recommend this if you want a solid regulated mod that’s going to last. This thing is incredible. It comes in 3 different color configurations.

OK, so now you have a new follower, keep up the great work.!
Yes indeed, out of all the chip mods I have this is hands down the very best yet.
I own maybe 6 DNA mods and have started to hate Evolv, what a dude of a chip after having the SX Mini M class for about 2 months now, it’s amazing.
BUT, as you mentioned about the battery cap, what the ****, if there’s one place on this mod that WILL fail eventually it is the battery cap, it’s as if the designers suddenly went retarded and just quit thinking.
How much more thought would it have taken to make a better battery cap with LESS threading, good grief, you’ll thread the cap for days before it’s tight, so I’ve learned to watch for the SX to light up and tighten only to the point where the cap is flush with the body.
Thanks again for yet another great review, looks to me like I have a lot of reading to do here. ☺
