Kayfun Lite – Still Unsurpassed

Kayfun Lite

Update: May 19, 2015

The Authentic Kayfun Lite V4 is in stock for $179.99

The Kayfun Lite is one of the most popular rebuildable tanks on the market. The flavor is still heads above any other tank out there. Its not quite on the level of an RDA, but for times when you need a good solid tank – the Kayfun is a winner.

Its been a while since I’ve written this article, so I thought I’d update it with a little more information.

The Kayfun set the standard when it came out for lots of other rebuildable tank designs. This is the original.

SvoëMesto originally released 3 designs for the Kayfun: the Kayfun, Kayfun lite and Kayfun mini.

The Lite is the most popular of the Kayfun models and has been cloned to death. The full on Kayfun is a little bit bigger and is still fantastic – it offers side loading of juice and a reservoir in the event of leaking. The Kayfun mini was a much smaller version. Its no longer available for whatever reason, but it has also been cloned if you are interested in getting one.

The most popular spinoffs of the Kayfun design are the Russian and the Rusian 91%. These are based on the Kayfun and Kayfun lite respectively. The Russian design added a MUCH improved airflow. For this reason – the Russian is my favorite of the line up and is to this day my go-to tank when I’m out and about and can’t fool with an RDA. In fact the Russian 91% is probably my favorite tank on the market.

There have been other design spinoffs as well including the Squape, Fogger, AGA T7 (fantastic) and many others. These are amazing tanks as well, but for me – the Kayfun set the standard and I really haven’t seen it passed just yet.

My only gripe about the Kayfun units is the airflow. They’re built for smaller, mouth to lung inhales. If you like lung inhales, RDA’s are the only real choice for you. If you still need a tank – consider the Russian 91%.

You can find the original Kayfun Lite for $135 at VaporDNA – they are frequently out of stock

The Russian 91% is a popular alternative that is the same design. I actually prefer it because its got airflow control and a better airflow. You can find these for $92.50 at VaporDNA

The EH clone can be found for $44.99 at MadVapes

And finally you can find the cheap clones at Fasttech – cheap as dirt. The downside here is the shipping takes a while and the quality can vary some.

I recently purchased a Kayfun Lite. This, my friends, is a game changer if you vape. This blows away most of the gear that I’ve got! I’ve been using the Kayfun Lite for a few weeks now and I want to go ahead and review it here now that I’ve had some experience with the tank. I think its important to understand what the Kayfun Lite is and what the Kayfun Lite is not so you can determine if this is something for you or not.

What is the Kayfun Lite?

The Kayfun Lite (pronounced Kai-foon) is a Rebuildable Atomizer that’s paired with a tank. The unit is designed in Russia and built in Germany. The machining is simply outstanding and the design is one of the best that I’ve seen. There really isn’t much out there at the moment that compares with the Kayfun Lite.

The Kayfun is made by a company called SvoëMesto. There are 3 tanks they make – the Kayfun Lite, the Kayfun 3.1 (same as the lite but with adjustable airflow), and the Kayfun Mini (a miniature version of the tank). All of these are similar – in this review we are looking at the Kayfun Lite.

The Kayfun is a rebuildable atomizer so this requires knowing how to wrap a coil or at least have someone to do it for you. This is the main turn off to a lot of newbies. Wrapping a coil is incredibly easy however so I really wouldn’t let this put you off.

What makes the Kayfun Lite so special?

The Kayfun Lite features an interestingly innovative and complex airflow design. Air is drawn into the unit and channeled up through the coil and wick. The result is all about flavor. Its a wet, flavorful vape and its probably the best unit I’ve ever owned. I hit this all the time with the exception of occasional dripping on my Trident RBA. The Kayfun is about flavor and slightly less about vapor production. The cloud is fine but its not going to give you plumes of vapor. This is for flavor junkies.

The other thing I love about the Kayfun is the fact that it IS a rebuildable device. This gives you several options that are fun to try so you can dial in the best for your taste. You can build a simple micro coil on the unit, you can do a nano build, you can do a chimney, my personal favorite is the double barrel (two nano coils side by side). Its a very flexible device.

The Kayfun Lite also holds a massive 4.5 ml of juice. Fantastic. It burns through vapor pretty quickly, plus I use this almost all of the time so the 4.5 ml is really what you want on here.

I currently own 2 Kayfun Lite tanks. I have one set up as a standard micro-coil at 1.5 ohms and a second with the double-barrel nano coils that fires at 1.1 ohms. Both are outstanding. The double barrel is slightly more intense with the flavor.

What are all these parts that came with my Kayfun Lite?

The Kayfun tank is assembled in 3 sections and you have the option of using the plastic window or not. I prefer the window because I like to see how much juice I have left rather than be surprised.

The tank wraps around the internal section that consists of the platform where the coil is built and a chimney that encloses it.

There is also a drip tip adaptor if you’re not interested in the tip it comes with. Some people feel the air is too directed with the standard tip. Personally I like it and haven’t used anything else.

Should I Get a Kayfun Lite?

Absolutely. This is an essential piece of gear quite frankly. It makes all the Kanger Protank and T3 stuff seem like toys. This is the tank you need to be using.

Its not cheap, but there are a few options.

The EH clone at MadVapes is showing at $44:99 [reduced from $54:99] so the price must have gone up – or its detected in from England & thought “here comes the English mug !”

I got my Kayfun Lite for $72 at a local store here in El paso, TX
but yes i love this tank

Some people like to build stuff but I do not. Why do you not also sell us Kayfun tanks that are ready to use and that require no building? Not a complaint, but a request because I want to try your product, but I am not interested in building…

Why would you buy a re-buildable tank if you have no plans of building? That makes no sense. What would you do with it when it needs to be rebuilt?

Guys, many bricks and mortar and online vape stores will now sell you pre-built coils of various types (macro, micro, nano etc) and in different gauge wire. So if you don’t want to rebuild you can always buy this RTA and buy the pre-made coils. Then you just need to add the wick and away you go. Though if you want really great flavour and big clouds without building then probably something like the aspire Atlantis and their sub-ohm battery is a better option. That’s under $100 for both the tank and the suitable sub-ohm battery and it runs very nice replaceable 0.6ohm coils. It’s about as close as you can get to an RTA or RDA without having to wind your own coils. 🙂
